British printer. He joined Hughes & Co., printers to the House of Commons, and began printing the Records of Parliament in 1774, before establishing his own company in 1798. The Records of Parliament continued to be published by successive generations of his descendants until 1889. His son Thomas was imprisoned in 1810 for printing W. Cobbett's radical newspaper, which was charged with libel. In 1943, Hansard became the official name for the Records of Parliament, but they are now published by the Government Printing Office (HMSO).

英国の印刷業者。下院の印刷業者であったヒューズ社に入り，《議会討議録》を1774年から印刷するようになり，1798年自分の会社を設立。《議会討議録》は1889年まで代々の子孫が継承して刊行しつづけた。息子のトマスは1810年誹毀(ひき)罪に問われたW.コベットの急進的な新聞を印刷して投獄されたこともある。1943年〈ハンサード〉は議会議事録を指す公式名称となったが，現在は政府印刷局(HMSO)によって刊行されている。
