A Paleolithic cultural site located at the bottom of Lake Nojiri in Shinano-machi, Kamiminochi-gun, Nagano Prefecture. Excavated in 1953 by Serizawa Chosuke and others, the willow-leaf-shaped knife-shaped stone tools were named Sugikubo type, and their composition with stone blades based on excellent stone blade techniques and Kamiyama type carving tools was revealed. Subsequent excavation surveys from 1962 to 1966 distinguished four sites, A, B, C, and D. The culture represented by this group of stone tools is presumed to have had its center on the Sea of Japan side north of the Shinano River, but has not been found in Hokkaido.
