Iioka [town] - Iioka
A former town in Kaijo County, located in the northeastern part of Chiba Prefecture, at the northeastern end of the Kujukuri Coast. Agricultural produce includes melons, watermelons, cabbage, and tomatoes, while fishing includes sardines and whitebait. Sewing and rice cracker manufacturing are also carried out, and the seafood processing industry is particularly thriving. There is the fault cliff of Gyobu Cape. Iioka Station on the Sobu Main Line is located in Unakami Town to the north. In July 2005, it was incorporated into Asahi City along with Higata Town in Katori County and Kaijo Town in Kaijo County. Area: 18.27 km2 . Population: 11,082 (2003).
