In the past, it was read as "Iino" or "Inoo". A branch of the Miyoshi clan. They lived in Iio, Masumi County, Awa Province (Kamojima Town, Yoshinogawa City, Tokushima Prefecture), so they called themselves Iio. In the Kamakura period, there was a man named Yorisada among the magistrates of the Rokuhara Tandai, and among the staff of the Kenmu government's Zasoketsu Dansho (Miscellaneous Lawsuit Decision Office), there are names such as Kakumin, Sadakane, and Yoritsura, so they must have been a family of administrative bureaucrats in the Kamakura Shogunate. After the Muromachi Shogunate was established, they became magistrates of the Shogunate. Since no family tree remains, their relationships are unclear, but in the early period, the names of Sadakane, Hiroaki, Kakumin, Yorichuni, Michikatsu, Sadayuki, Enyo, and Yorihide appear, and in the 15th century, Sadatsura (whose Buddhist name was Seido), Kiyochika (Joshin), Tamekazou, and Yukitane were appointed as deputy stewards of the Mandokoro. Tametane (Eisho) had a dictionary of words called the Satsujoshu, and Mototsura (Munekatsu) was a member of the Gozensata, the shogunate's highest council, and left behind a record of the council called the Ukagaigoto Kiroku. In addition, from the Nanboku-cho period onwards, there were people with the name Iio who were vassals of the Hosokawa and Miyoshi clans of Awa.
