Kawashima Castle

...A river terrace called the Kawashima Plateau developed at the foot of the mountain, and Hasuike, Maruike, Moriike and other ponds to the west of the plateau are a series of riverbeds that show the old course of the Yoshino River. During the Sengoku period, it was the base of the Kawashima clan, and after the Hachisuka clan entered Awa in 1585 (Tensho 13), they rebuilt Kawashima Castle, one of the nine Awa castles, on Shiroyama and formed a castle town. During the Kan'ei period (1624-44), the castle was demolished under the One Castle per Province Law, but the district magistrate's office was established there and it flourished as the center of local politics. ...
