Among the People (English: Khazhdenie v narod)

A large-scale social reform movement by intellectuals and students carried out in Russia from 1873 to 1875. It reached its peak in the spring and summer of 1874. It began as a movement for moral self-improvement or self-denial among intellectuals and students who enjoyed privileges under the tsarist government, but expanded its activities to the realization of socialism to save the people from a sense of indebtedness to them. It first carried out propaganda and educational activities among urban workers and migrant peasants, then went to rural areas to propagate socialism among peasants and instigate peasant uprisings for revolution.

1873‐75年にロシアで大規模に実践された知識人･学生による社会変革の運動。74年の春～夏に最盛期を迎える。最初は帝政下で特権を享受する知識人･学生の道徳的自己完成または自己否定の運動に始まり，人民への負債の念から人民を救済するための社会主義の実現へと行動をひろげた。はじめ都市の労働者と出稼ぎ農民の間で宣伝･教育活動を行い，続いて農村に入り農民の間で社会主義の宣伝と革命に向けての農民の蜂起を扇動した。
