Shingo - Shinkyo

A prefecture-level city in the upper reaches of the Wei River in northern Henan Province, China. It is located at the transition point from the southern foot of the Taihang Mountains to the North China Plain. It has jurisdiction over four city districts and six counties, and acts as the administrative agent for two county-level cities (as of 2016). It has a population of 6.3 million (2014). It is connected to the Beijing-Guangzhou Line and the Beijing-Guangzhou High-Speed ​​Railway, and is the starting point of the Xinhe Line (Xinxiang-Heze) and the Xinyue Line (Xinxiang-Yueshan). It is also a key transportation hub in northern Henan Province, with expressways connecting it to Handan in Hebei Province and Taiyuan in Shanxi Province. It is rich in underground resources such as coal and limestone, and industries such as large-scale spinning and machinery are developing. Wheat and sorghum are also widely cultivated, and the area is the main cotton-growing region of the Yellow River basin. Xinxiang County was established here during the Sui Dynasty, and the area prospered during the Ming Dynasty through the transportation of food to Beijing. A city was established in 1948.

中国、河南(かなん)省北部、衛河(えいが)上流の地級市。太行(たいこう)山脈南麓から華北(かほく)平原に移行する地点にある。4市轄区、6県を管轄し、2県級市の管轄代行を行う(2016年時点)。人口630万5000(2014)。京広線と京広高速鉄道が通じ、新菏線(新郷―菏沢(かたく))、新月線(新郷―月山)の起点でもある。また河北(かほく)省邯鄲(かんたん)や山西(さんせい)省太原(たいげん)に通じる自動車道が通り、河南省北部の交通の要所を占める。石炭や石灰石などの地下資源が豊富で、大型紡績、機械などの工業が発展している。小麦やコウリャンの栽培も盛んで、黄河(こうが)流域ワタ作地帯の主産地をなす。隋(ずい)代に新郷県が置かれ、明(みん)代には北京(ペキン)への食糧輸送で栄えた。1948年市が設けられた。
