In the case of the illustrated newspaper The Illustrated London News, which was launched in England in 1842 after the invention of photography, initially printed scenes of events drawn by artists using woodblocks, and even when there were original photographs, they were engraved into woodblocks and printed because there was no printing technology. However, by including a note on the page stating that the drawings were based on photographs, the newspaper gained a good reputation for its high credibility. …
