Andromeda

Japanese:
Andromeda

This constellation can be seen almost overhead on autumn evenings. The second magnitude star α (Alpha) forms part of the great quadrilateral of Pegasus, and from there, a series of stars form a V-shape lying on its side toward the northeast, representing Princess Andromeda, who was sacrificed to the sea monster (Cetus) as a victim of her mother Cassiopeia's vanity, and was chained together. Around Andromeda's waist, tracing the lines from β (Beta) to μ (Mu) and ν (Nu), you can see the Andromeda Galaxy (M31) faintly with the naked eye near ν, and with binoculars you can see it even from a city with a slightly brighter night sky. In addition, the star γ (Gamma) at the tip of the toe is a beautiful double star consisting of a pair of orange second magnitude and blue fifth magnitude stars, which can be enjoyed with a small telescope.
