Bishop and saint in the Frankish period. A Visigoth from Aquitaine or Spain who moved to the Frankish state in 718 due to the Arab invasion, his place of employment is unknown. With the support of the Pope, the Frankish king, and nobles, he established monasteries and carried out church reforms based on the Benedictine Rule in Alemannia, Rhaetia, Alsace, and Bavaria. His support from Mayor Charles Martel is particularly well known. He founded the monasteries of Reichenau, Murbach, and Hornbach. [Tokuda Naohiro]
