This document, which records the general conditions of villages during the Unified Silla period in Korea, was discovered in the Shosoin Repository in Japan in 1933. It is also known as the "Silla Village Documents." It is thought to have been created in 755 or 815. It is a fragment of a survey record created once every three years, and records the current conditions of four villages that are thought to have existed near present-day Cheongju in North Chungcheong Province. The contents include the village name, village area, number of households, number of cattle and horses, cultivated land area, and number of trees such as mulberry trees, and also includes details on increases and decreases over the past three years, except for cultivated land area. This shows that the villages at that time were small, natural villages with around 10 households and a total population of around 100 people.
