Karlus

This hot spring is located in Noboribetsu City, southwest of Hokkaido. It is located about 5 km northwest of Noboribetsu Onsen, and the road that runs from Noboribetsu Onsen to Toyako Onsen via Orofure Pass passes through here. The hot spring is located at the bottom of an explosion crater in the upper reaches of a small river called the Chitose River, and the water is a saltwater spring and a gypsum spring with a temperature of 62°C. Karlus is named after the hot spring resort town of Karlovy Vary (German name: Karlsbad) in Czechoslovakia, which has similar water quality. It opened in 1898 and was used as a therapeutic bath. It was designated a national hot spring resort in 1957.

北海道南西部，登別市にある温泉。登別温泉の北西約5kmに位置し，登別温泉からオロフレ峠を経て洞爺湖温泉にいたる道路がここを通る。千歳川と呼ぶ小河川上流部にある爆裂火口底にある温泉で，泉質はボウ硝泉，セッコウ泉，泉温62℃。カルルスとは泉質が似ているチェコスロバキアの温泉保養地カルロビ･バリ(ドイツ語名カールスバート)にちなんだもので，1898年に開かれ，湯治場として利用された。1957年国民保養温泉に指定された。
