The name of the city gate of Linzi, the capital of the Qi Dynasty, China. During the height of the Warring States period, King Wei and King Xuan, who loved learning, invited scholars to live in mansions near the Jimen Gate, provided them with large living expenses, and engaged in debates and writing. Their numbers ranged from several hundred to a thousand, and they were called Jiha scholars or Jiha teachers. Particularly famous during the Xuan King era were Zou Yan, Chunyu Zheng, Tian Bi, and Shen Dao. This tradition of favoring the learned continued until King Xiang (357-265 BC), forming the so-called Jiha learning, which became a major center of culture and scholarship during the Warring States period.
