Iris [town] - Shobu

Japanese: 菖蒲[町] - しょうぶ

An old town in Minami Saitama County, in the central eastern part of Saitama Prefecture. It is located on alluvial lowland, with the Moto-Arakawa River flowing to the southwest and the Minuma Daiisui Canal flowing through the center. The city center along National Route 122 developed as a market town in the early modern period. Rice, fruit and vegetable cultivation is thriving, with pears being a particularly large production area. There are also metal and textile-related factories. In March 2010, it merged with Kuki City, Kurihashi Town in Kitakatsushika County, and Washinomiya Town. ^{27.37 km2} . Population 21,425 (2005).

埼玉県中東部，南埼玉郡の旧町。沖積低地上にあり，南西を元荒川，中央を見沼(みぬま)代用水が流れる。国道122号線に沿う中心市街は近世に市場町として発達した。米，果樹，野菜栽培が盛ん。特にナシの産が多い。金属，繊維関連の工場もある。2010年３月久喜市，北葛飾郡栗橋町，鷲宮町と合併。27.37km²。２万1425人（2005）。
