Kakeshita - Kakeshita

Japanese: 掛下 - かけした
Kakeshita - Kakeshita

… [Ikeda Takae]
[Japanese underwear]
In the broad sense, this includes undergarments, aigi (internal garments), and layered undergarments. Aigi (internal garments) is a general term for anything worn between a top and an undergarment, but in the Edo period it referred to a small-sleeved kimono worn by women of samurai families under their uchikake kimono, and today its remnants remain in bridal attire and are called kakeshita (undergarments). Aigi (internal garments) is a garment worn under the outer garment of a court lady's attire, and is also called undergarment, and was a vestige of the custom of formal attire before the war.
