A monthly general magazine for boys. First published in November 1914, it published 611 issues over 48 years, including special issues, until December 1962. It was published by Kodansha, a publisher of the Dai-Nippon Yuben-Kai. During the Meiji period, three versions of the same name, "Boys' Club," were published by Hokuryukan and others, but all of them were short-lived, and when people say "Boys' Club," they are referring to the Kodansha version. From the beginning, the magazine was consistent with the editorial policy of Kodansha president Noma Seiji, which was to be "interesting and informative." From the 1920s onwards, it published masterpieces of popular children's literature such as Takagaki Hitomi's "Ryujinmaru," Yoshikawa Eiji's "Shinshu Tenmakyo," Daibutsu Jiro's "Kakubeishi," Sato Koroku's "Ah, Receiving Flowers in the Jade Cup," Sasaki Kuni's "Hard-Hearted Schoolmate," Yamanaka Minetaro's "300 Ri Across Enemy Lines," and Minami Yoichiro's "Hoeru Jungle," and in the 1930s it enjoyed a golden age with a circulation of approximately 1 million.
