Stone Castle

Japanese: 石城 - せきじょう

?-1865 ^* A monk from the late Edo period.
He was the head priest of Daiiwa-ji Temple in Niiharu County, Hitachi (Ibaraki Prefecture). In 1820, he joined the Tengu Party's uprising and fought in various places. Later, he accompanied Takeda Kounsai to Kyoto. After a fierce battle with Matsumoto clan soldiers at Wada Pass in Shinano (Nagano Prefecture), he separated from the main force and entered Omi (Shiga Prefecture), where he was captured and executed by Hikone clan soldiers in Nakakawachi Village on December 18 of the same year. He was born in Katsushika County, Shimousa (Chiba Prefecture).

常陸(ひたち)(茨城県)新治郡の大岩寺の住職。元治(げんじ)元年天狗(てんぐ)党の挙兵にくわわり,各地を転戦。のち武田耕雲斎にしたがい京都にむかう。信濃(しなの)(長野県)和田峠で松本藩兵らと激戦後,本隊とわかれ近江(おうみ)(滋賀県)にはいり同年12月18日中河内村で彦根藩兵に捕らえられ,きられた。下総(しもうさ)葛飾(かつしか)郡(千葉県)出身。
