Children's Palace (English: Shào nián gōng)

Japanese: 少年宮 - しょうねんきゅう（英語表記）Shào nián gōng

An extracurricular educational facility for elementary and middle school (elementary middle school) students in the People's Republic of China. It generally consists of departments such as games, art, science and technology, physical education, and libraries, and some city and district-level ones have considerable facilities such as gymnasiums. Experts are assigned to each department to provide instruction, and by linking it with the activities of the Junior Vanguard Corps, it has become a base for gifted education in China. In the former Soviet Union, there were similar facilities called ``Pioneer Children's Palaces'' in various places. [Hasama Naoki]
