Japanese: 更科紀行 - さらしなきこう

A haiku travelogue from the early Edo period. Volume 1. Written by Matsuo Basho. Published in 1688-89 ( the first year of the Genroku era) and 1709 ( the sixth year of the Hoei era) as an appendix to "Ogi no Kobun." A continuation of the journey from "Ogi no Kobun," this short story describes the motivation for the journey, the scenery, experiences, and impressions along the way, from Nagoya to Kiso Road in 1600 , to viewing the moon at Obasuteyama in Sarashina, visiting Zenkoji Temple, and returning to Edo via Usui Pass. At the end of the text, Basho's and the Koshu people's poems are collected together.

江戸前期の俳諧紀行文。一編。松尾芭蕉著。元祿元年～二年（一六八八‐八九）成立。宝永六年（一七〇九）「笈の小文」の付録として刊行。「笈の小文」の旅の続きで、元祿元年、名古屋から木曾路を経て更科の姨捨山(おばすてやま)の月見をし、善光寺に参詣し、碓氷峠を経て江戸に帰った旅の、旅立ちの動機から途中の情景、経験、感想などを記した短編。文末に芭蕉と越人の句が一括して収めてある。
