〘名〙① (Securities and Exchange Commission の訳語) アメリカで、証券投資家を保護し、証券市場を規制、監督するために、一九三四年に証券取引所法のもとで設けられた委員会。連邦政府の独立行政機関で大統領の任命する五人の委員からなる。略称SEC。② ①にならい、日本で昭和二三年(一九四八)の証券取引法により設置された委員会。同二七年同法の改正で廃止。
