A distinguished French nobleman. The fourth head of the House of Condé, the leading royal family. Known as "Le Grand Condé" for being a great general on a par with Turenne. He participated in the Thirty Years' War at a young age, and gained fame for his great victory at the Battle of Rocroy (1643). During the Fronde, he initially played a central role in the royal army, but was dissatisfied with not being given sufficient recognition for his military achievements, and led the great nobles to become a key figure in the "Fronde of the Nobles." After his defeat, he joined the Spanish army, but returned at the Treaty of the Pyrenees (1659).

フランスの名門貴族。筆頭親王家であるコンデ家の第4代当主。テュレンヌと並ぶ名将として〈大コンデLe Grand Condé〉と呼ばれた。若くして三十年戦争に参戦し，ロクロアの戦(1643)で大勝して名声を博した。フロンドの乱では，当初国王軍の中枢を担ったが，戦功が十分認められないのを不満とし，大貴族を率いて〈貴族のフロンド〉の立役者となった。敗北後スペイン軍に投ずるが，ピレネー条約(1659)で復帰する。
