Ministry
〘Noun〙① One of the government systems under the Ritsuryo system. It belonged to the Dajokan and had eight ministries: Central Affairs, Ceremonies, Government Affairs, Civil Affairs, Military Affairs, Criminal Affairs, Finance, and the Imperial Household. Its officials included the shogi (official position), dai (major minister), shoyu (major minister), dai (major minister), shoben (major minister), and dai (major minister) . ② A central administrative body established in the government system reform of 1869 ( Meiji 2 ). 〘名〙① 令制での官制の一つ。太政官に属し、中務、式部、治部、民部、兵部、刑部、大蔵、宮内の八省がある。職員として、卿、大・少輔、大・少弁、大・少主典(だい・しょうさかん)などが置かれた。② 明治二年(一八六九)の官制改革で設けられた中央行政機関。同一八年の内閣制度に引き継がれ、変遷を経たのち、昭和二三年(一九四八)制定の国家行政組織法によって、法務、外務、大蔵、文部、厚生、農林(のち農林水産)、通商産業、運輸、郵政、労働、建設、自治の一二の省が置かれ、平成一三年(二〇〇一)には再編されて、総務、法務、外務、財務、文部科学、厚生労働、農林水産、経済産業、国土交通、環境の十の省となった。※当世書生気質(1885‐86)〈坪内逍遙〉四「いつしかさる省(シャウ)へ召出されつ」③ 古代中国で、中央政府、中央官庁の呼び名。とくに、中書省をさす。〔新唐書‐百官志〕④ 中国の行政区画の一つ。地方行政区画のうち、最上位のもの。元のころ、中書省の地方機関として行中書省(行省)を置き、その地方の行政をつかさどったことから、地方行政区の名称となった。現在は区の管轄のもとに置かれている。
