Anju Zushio - Anju Zushio

Japanese: 安寿･厨子王 - あんじゅずしおう

The names of a brother and sister who appear in the sermon Sanshidayu. Iwaki Hangan Masauji, the lord of 54 counties in Oshu, incurred the wrath of the emperor and was exiled to Anraku-ji Temple in Tsukushi Province. His sons Anju and Zushio, longing for their father and wanting to recover their lost territory, head for Kyoto with their mother and wet nurse. On the way, they are deceived by Yamaoka Tayu, a slave trader, in Naoetsu, Echigo Province, and their mother is sold to Ezo, while the brother and sister are sold to Sanshidayu in Yura, Tango. As slaves, the older sister is forced to work hard, collecting tide and the younger brother cutting grass. The older sister stays behind to allow her brother to escape, and is tortured by fire and water to death.

説経《山荘太夫（さんしようだゆう）》に出てくる姉弟の名。奥州54郡の主，岩城判官正氏は帝の勘気をこうむり，筑紫国安楽寺に流される。その子安寿，厨子王は父を慕いまた失われた領地を回復するため，母や乳母とともに京へ向かう。途中越後国直江津で人買いの山岡太夫にだまされ，母は蝦夷へ，姉弟は丹後由良の山荘太夫のところへ売られる。奴隷として姉は潮くみ，弟はしば刈りに従い酷使される。姉は弟を逃がすためにひとりとどまり，火責め水責めの刑にあって死ぬ。
