Japanese: 修羅物 - しゅらもの

A classification of Nohgaku pieces. In the five-part Noh play, it is the god, man, woman, madman, and demon, and is called the second one because it is performed second. The concept is that after death in a battle, the protagonist falls into the world of Asura and suffers. Based on the Tale of the Heike and other stories, the Katsura in Tamura, Yashima, and Ebira is performed with the mask of the middle-aged Heita, while the Heike nobles in Tadatsune, Michimori, and Kiyotsune wear the mask of a middle-aged general, and the female Asura, Tomoe, is the only woman. The three Asura in Tomonaga, which features the old warriors Yorimasa and Sanemori, the first shite is a middle-aged woman, and the second shite is a noble, are heavy and unusual, with drums.

能楽の曲目の分類の一つ。五番立の能では，神，男，女，狂，鬼の男にあたり，2番目に演じられるところから，二番目物という。合戦により，死後，修羅道に落ちて苦しむという構想。『平家物語』などに取材したもので，『田村』『八島』『箙 (えびら) 』の勝修羅は，壮年の平太の面で舞い，『忠度』『通盛』『清経』などの平家の公達は中将の面，女修羅の『巴』はただ1人の女性である。老武者の『頼政』『実盛』，前シテが中年の女性，後シテは公達という『朝長』の三修羅は扱いが重く，太鼓入りの異色のものである。
