Roman grammarian from the late 2nd century. Date of birth and death unknown. Festus' name is known to this day because he summarized and compiled the Latin dictionary On the Meaning of Words written by Verrius Flaccus, a famous grammarian active during the reign of Emperor Augustus about 200 years earlier and who also served as a tutor to the emperor's grandsons. However, entries added by Festus himself are rarely found. On the Meaning of Words compiled by Festus, the words listed were arranged in alphabetical order and the dictionary was compiled into 20 volumes, but only the 12th volume onwards remains.

2世紀後半のローマの文法家。生没年不詳。フェストゥスの名が今に伝わる理由は，彼よりおよそ200年前のアウグストゥス帝の時代に活躍した著名な文法家で，帝の孫たちの家庭教師もつとめたフラックスVerrius Flaccusが著したラテン語辞典《語の意味について》を要約，編纂したことによっている。しかし，彼自身が書き加えた項目はまれにしか見られない。フェストゥスの編纂した《語の意味について》は記載語をアルファベット順に並べてあり，20巻にまとめられていたが，現存するのは第12巻以降のみである。
