This set of seven tapestries on the theme of the Apocalypse, housed in the Chateau de Angers Museum, is the oldest and largest surviving medieval work in Western Europe. Commissioned by Louis, Duke of Anjou (brother of King Charles V of France), the designs were drawn by the king's court painter Jean Bondol (active 1368-81), and the tapestries were woven in the workshop of Nicolas Bataille between 1373 and 1380. Each tapestry is about 5m by 20m in size, and depicts 14 scenes from the story of the Apocalypse, with seven scenes on each of two levels (it is said that there were originally 90 scenes, but only about 70 remain today).

アンジェ城付属美術館所蔵の，黙示録を主題とする7枚一組のタピスリーで，現存する西欧中世の作品中もっとも古く，最大の規模を誇る。アンジュー公ルイ(フランス国王シャルル5世の弟)の注文により，国王の宮廷画家ボンドルJean Bondol(1368‐81活動)が下絵を描き，1373‐80年にニコラ･バタイユの工房で織られた。1枚は約5m×約20mの大きさをもち，黙示録の物語が上下2段に7場面ずつ，計14場面表されている(本来90場面あったといわれるが，現存するのは約70場面のみ。
