...There were 10 groups (sometimes increased), and each group had one head clerk (under the control of the young clerk, 4000 koku salary, no salary, half of the stipend while on duty, Shodaibu, Kikuno-ma), one kumi-gashira (under the control of the young clerk, 1000 koku salary, Hokui, Kikuno-ma Minami-Ofusuma-giwai), 50 kumi-shu (under the control of the head clerk, 300 koku salary, Omeai or above, Torano-ma), 10 yoriki (80 koku salary, Omeai or below, upper and lower ranks, Ohoba), and 20 doshin (30 koku salary, two-person salary, Omeai or below, Ohoba). In 1866 (Keio 2), the group was abolished, and the head clerk and kumi-gashira were transferred to the Kinshi-narai yori-ai, the adult members of the kumi-shu were transferred to the Oku-tsume gun-tai, and the rest were transferred to the Kinshi-narai kobushin. In peacetime, he was on duty at Torano-ma and also guarded the Chujakumon Gate and Kamiumemon Gate in front of the entrance.
