〘 noun 〙① (from きり米②) A retainer of the shogunate or a feudal lord who is not given a fief but receives a stipend of rice. A keeper of stored rice. ※Nippo Jisho (1603-04) " Qirimaitori " ※Ukiyo Zoushi, Keisei Denju Kami Ko (1710) 2 "As you know, I am a simple servant of the Kirimaitori (Kirimaitori)" ② (by extension) A salary earner. An employee. A servant. ※Ukiyo Zoushi, Shin Yoshiwara Tsunejigusa (1689) 1 "The servants of the Kirimaitori are a source of entertainment for the town clerks, and it is a very rude thing to do."
