...A large central hall or central square in a station, airport, park, exhibition center, etc. for the purpose of people gathering and moving. The word comes from the Latin word concursus, which means a confluence or a crowd. It developed as a space that combines the functions of a waiting area leading to the ticket gates at a train station and a passageway connecting two platforms.
