The capital of the Republic of South Sudan. It is located near the border with Uganda, on the banks of the Jebel River, upstream of the Nile. It is a port city that is the southern terminus of Sudan's water transport, and is a key transportation hub with roads radiating out from it to neighboring Uganda, Kenya, and Congo. Tobacco, coffee, chili peppers, and other crops are grown in the surrounding area, and it is also a distribution center for these crops.
