Juba
The capital of the Republic of South Sudan. It is located near the border with Uganda, on the banks of the Jebel River, upstream of the Nile. It is a port city that is the southern terminus of Sudan's water transport, and is a key transportation hub with roads radiating out from it to neighboring Uganda, Kenya, and Congo. Tobacco, coffee, chili peppers, and other crops are grown in the surrounding area, and it is also a distribution center for these crops. Population: 230,000 (2008).

南スーダン共和国の首都。ウガンダとの国境に近く,ナイル川上流のジェベル川の河岸に位置する。スーダンの水上交通の南の終着点に当たる港町で,ここから近隣のウガンダ,ケニア,コンゴに道路が放射状に通ずる,交通の要地になっている。周辺ではタバコ,コーヒー,トウガラシなどが栽培され,これらの集散地にもなっている。人口23万人(2008)。
