Japanese: ブラキカム - ぶらきかむ

An annual plant of the Asteraceae family. There are about 50 species of Brachycome plants distributed in Australia, but this species is one of them, with 2cm diameter flower heads that bloom in blue, purple, white, pink, etc., and long, pinnate compound leaves similar to cosmos. The Japanese name is Himecosmos. The flowers bloom from April to May, are small and similar in shape to cineraria, and open flat when exposed to sunlight, but on cloudy and rainy days the petals turn outward. Seeds are sown in October, with a handful of seeds sown in small pots, and several plants grown in each pot. Check the root circumference and repot them, and overwinter them under a frame or eaves to prevent them from freezing.

キク科の一年草。ブラキカム属Brachycomeの植物はオーストラリアに50種ほどが分布しているが，本種はその中でも径2cmの頭花が青，紫，白，ピンクなどに咲き，コスモスに似た細長い羽状複葉をつけるかれんな植物である。和名ヒメコスモス。花は4～5月に咲き，形はシネラリアに似て小さく，日光にあたると平開するが，曇雨天には花弁が外側に反転する。　種まきは10月，小鉢にひとつまみの種をまき，1鉢に数本を育て，根回りをみて鉢替えを行い，フレームや軒下で凍らぬように越冬させる。
