A famous set of anonymous letters published in the London newspaper Public Advertiser in the late 18th century. The first letter under the name Junius appeared in the paper on January 21, 1769. Over the next few years, contributions continued intermittently from a person who, judging by his writing style and thoughts, appears to have been the same author. Although he used several other pen names, the most commonly used is Junius, and they are collectively referred to as such. The letters under the name Junius are consistently political criticism essays. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
