A former town in Atetsu District, northwest Okayama Prefecture. Located in the Kosakabe River basin, a tributary of the Takahashi River, this town was once one of the main transportation routes between San'in and San'yo. Livestock farming is thriving here, with Wagyu and dairy cows bred. The town produces shiitake mushrooms, cucumbers, and tomatoes. The main settlement is Kosakabe along the Kishin Line. In March 2005, it was incorporated into Niimi City along with Kamigo Town, Tetta Town, and Tetsunishi Town in Atetsu District. 121.25 km2 . 3,951 people (2003).
