1541-91 (Tenbun 10-Tensho 19) A military commander in the Azuchi-Momoyama period. Toyotomi Hideyoshi's half-brother. Son of Chikaami. Koichiro, later Mino no Kami. Initially called Nagahide, he changed his name to Hidenaga around 1585 (Tensho 13). From 1577 onwards, he distinguished himself by accompanying Hideyoshi in his conquest of the Chugoku region, and as the lord of Takeda and Izushi castles in Tajima, he worked to conquer Tajima and Harima. Even after the Honnoji Incident, he served as Hideyoshi's right-hand man in the battles of Yamazaki, Shizugatake, Komaki and Nagakute. In 1585, after the suppression of the Kishu Ikki, he played a major role in the conquest of Kii, and in the conquest of Shikoku, defeating the Chosokabe clan as Hideyoshi's representative. For this achievement, in leap August of the same year, he was awarded 1 million koku, which included Yamato and Kii, as well as parts of Izumi and Iga, and made Yamato Koriyama his castle.
