Ankei

A prefecture-level city in the southwest of Anhui Province, China. Located on the north bank of the Yangtze River, it is one of the important ports for Yangtze River water transport. It governs three city districts and six counties including Huaining, and acts as the acting governor for one county-level city (as of 2016). Population 6,187,000 (2010). The state of Wan was established during the Spring and Autumn period, and Wan County was established during the Han dynasty. Since the Southern Song dynasty, it has been the prefecture of Anqing, and from the Qing dynasty until the establishment of the People's Republic of China, it was the political and economic center of Anhui Province as the provincial capital. In 1949, the urban district and suburbs of Huaining County were separated to form Anqing City.

There is also a highway that runs from Nanjing to Wuhan, and the city is a thriving commercial center for goods distribution in southwestern Anhui Province. The surrounding area also produces a lot of tea and timber. The main industries are textiles such as spinning and electrical machinery manufacturing, and there are also petrochemical factories. Anqing Tianzhushan Airport is located near the city.

中国、安徽(あんき)省南西部の地級市。揚子江(ようすこう)の北岸に位置し、揚子江水運の重要港の一つ。3市轄区、懐寧(かいねい)など6県を管轄し、1県級市の管轄代行を行う（2016年時点）。人口618万7000（2010）。春秋時代には皖(かん)国が興り、漢代には皖県が置かれた。南宋(なんそう)以来安慶府治となり、清(しん)代から中華人民共和国成立まで、安徽省の省都として政治、経済の中心であった。1949年懐寧県の市街区および近郊を分離して安慶市が設置された。

　南京(ナンキン)から武漢(ぶかん)に通じる自動車道もあり、安徽省南西部における物資集散の中心地として商業活動が盛んである。また周辺地域は茶、木材の生産が多い。紡績などの繊維産業や電気機械製造が工業の中心で、石油化学などの工場も立地する。市街近郊には安慶天柱山空港がある。
