A typical household fairy from British folklore. He is cheerful and mischievous, and enjoys singing and dancing. He can turn into a horse and drop travelers on its back into the water. His name first appears in a 13th century document, with Robin derived from Robert and Goodfellow derived from "good fellow." According to one theory, he is the offspring of a human and a fairy, and is friendly to humans and helps with household chores. In the pamphlet "Robin Goodfellow's Merry Mischief" (1584), he is depicted carrying a broom. [Imura Kimie] Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
