A translation of the Russian word slavyanofil'stvo or slavofily. A name given to those who led the 19th century Russian nationalist ideological movement, as opposed to the Western faction. The main commentators were the Kireyevsky brothers, Khomyakov, and the Aksakov brothers. They advocated a return to the indigenous unity that existed before the Russian Orthodox Church and Peter the Great's Europeanization policy. Pan-Slavism, the Narodnik movement, Dostoevsky's terroirism, and Solzhenitsyn's ideas are also extensions of this movement. → Related articles Chaadaev | Mir Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
