There are about 200 species of evergreen epiphytic orchids native to tropical Africa and Madagascar. They come in a variety of forms, from short-stalked to long-stalked climbing orchids. The leaves are thick and fleshy, linear or rod-shaped. The flowers are waxy white, with a long, tubular base at the lip that forms a spur. They flower in greenhouses from December to February. 熱帯アフリカおよびマダガスカル原産の常緑の着生ランで約200種がある。短茎性のものから，茎が長くのびてよじ登るものまであり，形態は多様。葉は厚肉質で，線形または棒状。花は蝋質の白色，唇弁(しんべん)の基部は筒状で長く伸び，距(きょ)となるのが特徴。温室内で12〜２月に開花。冬季の室温は17〜20℃が必要。鉢植あるいはヘゴ付けで栽培される。
