A village in Ama County, western Aichi Prefecture. Population 5,616 (1995). Located in the southern part of the Nobi Plain, bordering Nagoya City to the east. Located in the delta at the mouth of the Kiso River, the town was developed by reclaiming land along the coast over a period of about 100 years from the mid-17th century. Agriculture, mainly rice, poultry, and greenhouse horticulture, is thriving here, and after the severe damage caused by the Ise Bay Typhoon in 1959, land improvement and agricultural structure improvement projects were carried out.
