Japanese: ヒナノシャクジョウ - ひなのしゃくじょう

A small, white saprophytic plant (illustration) of the family Polyporaceae. It grows to a height of 10-20cm, with a spherical rhizome underground. Small, scale-like leaves grow alternately on the stem, and in Japan, from summer to autumn, 1-10 flowers grow densely at the top in a somewhat head-like shape. The flowers are also white, with a triangular tubular part with three small, curled-back outer tepals and three upright inner tepals at the top. There are three stamens. It is widely distributed from central Honshu south to Southeast Asia and Malaysia, and grows on the forest floor rich in leaf litter.

ヒナノシャクジョウ科の白色の小型腐生植物（イラスト）。高さ10～20cmになり，地下には球状の根茎がある。茎には小さな鱗片葉が互生し，日本では夏～秋，頂部に1～10花がやや頭状に密集してつく。花も白色，花の筒状部は三稜形となり，その頂端部にそり返った小さな3枚の外花被片と，直立した3枚の内花被片をつける。おしべは3本。本州中部以南から東南アジア，マレーシア地域まで広く分布し，腐葉に富む林床に生育する。
