?-1929 A leader of the Iranian Kurdish people. He was a member of the Shaqaq tribe, a nomadic Kurdish tribe living in the mountainous region west of Lake Urmia. In the second half of the 19th century, he established a major power in West Azerbaijan Province by controlling the Kurdish farmers, the Kurmanji, the Shiite Azeris, and the Nestorian Assyrians who lived in the plains. During the Iranian Constitutional Revolution, he sided with the Qajar dynasty.
