Shonosuke Ikuta

…On December 28, 1682 (Tenwa 2), a fire broke out at Komagome Daienji Temple, burning Shitaya, Asakusa, and Honjo in the east, and spreading to Hongo, Kanda, and Nihonbashi in the south, destroying 75 feudal lords' houses, 166 hatamoto's houses, and 95 temples and shrines, and killing 3,500 people. During that fire, Oshichi, whose house was burned down, took refuge in Komagome Shosenji Temple (one theory is Enjoji Temple), where she fell in love with a temple page named Ikuta Shonosuke (one theory is Sahyoe). After returning home, she missed Shonosuke so much that she thought she could meet him if there was a fire, and set fire to him on the night of March 2 the following year, but the fire was quickly put out, and she was captured and paraded around, and on March 29, she was burned to death at the Suzugamori execution grounds, according to the true story. …

…1682年(天和2)12月28日，駒込大円寺から出火，東は下谷，浅草，本所を焼き，南は本郷，神田，日本橋に及び，大名屋敷75，旗本屋敷166，寺社95を焼失，焼死者3500名という大火があった。その際，家を焼かれ，駒込正仙寺(一説に円乗寺)に避難したお七は寺小姓の生田庄之助(一説に左兵衛)と恋仲となった。家に戻ったのちも庄之助恋しさのあまり，火事があれば会えると思い込み，翌年3月2日夜放火したがすぐ消し止められ，捕らえられて引廻しのうえ，3月29日鈴ヶ森の刑場で火刑に処せられたというのが実説である。…
