Folk performing art. This is a type of Bangaku (mountain priest kagura) handed down in Sugisawa, Yuza-cho, Akumi-gun, Yamagata Prefecture, and is also called Hiyama Bangaku or Sugisawa Hiyama. It is a nationally designated important intangible folk cultural property. It is a type of yamabushi-style kagura Bangaku handed down in the Tohoku region, but from early on the performers were considered to be men from the Sugisawa community. In the past, when joining the young people's group, they would start by learning the sober Sanbaso and the fast dance Kagemasa, and then progress to pieces such as Okina, Torimai, Mikagura, Oeyama, Soga, and Shinobu. 民俗芸能。山形県飽海(あくみ)郡遊佐町杉沢に伝えられる番楽(ばんがく)(山伏神楽)で,ひやま番楽とも杉沢比山とも称する。国指定重要無形民俗文化財。東北地方に伝わる山伏系の神楽番楽の一種であるが,演者は早くから杉沢集落の男性とされた。古くは若者組入りすると素面の《三番叟》,早舞(はやまい)の《景政》から習いはじめ,《翁》《鳥舞》《みかぐら》《大江山》《曾我》《信夫(しのぶ)》などの曲に進む。現在14曲を伝える。
