Tipula aino (English: Tipula aino)

Japanese: キリウジガガンボ(切蛆大蚊) - キリウジガガンボ（英語表記）Tipula aino

An insect of the Diptera family, Crane Fly (illustration). Adults are 14-18 mm long, with forewings around 19 mm long. The body is light brown. The antennae have 13 segments and are blackish brown, but the basal three segments are yellowish brown. The pronotum is gray-brown with several unclear dark brown stripes. The sides of the abdomen are blackish brown, while the rest are light brown. The wings are slightly brownish but transparent, with the leading edges being particularly brown. The haltere and legs are light brown. They are found in Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu and Korea. When fully grown, the larvae reach about 30 mm in size and are gray-brown all over, with three pairs of short fleshy projections at the end of the tail.
