Japanese: 周口店動物群 - しゅうこうてんどうぶつぐん

Also known as the Zhoukoudian fauna. A group of fossil mammals found in the deposits of the Zhoukoudian Cave on the outskirts of Beijing, which is said to have coexisted with Sinanthropus pekinensis (Peking Man). It includes hyenas, Machairodus (a type of saber-toothed tiger), Chinese rhinoceros, Sanmen horse, Trogontherium (beaver), Yang's tiger, pika, bighorn deer, and Naumann's elephant, and is representative of the mammal fauna of northern China in the middle Pleistocene. Compared to the Nihewan fauna from the early to early middle Pleistocene, it has stronger Palearctic elements and lived in cool temperate forests or grasslands, transitioning to the next loess fauna, which is believed to have lived in a colder, drier environment.

チョウコウテン動物群ともいう。北京市郊外の周口店洞窟の堆積物に含まれる化石哺乳類群で，シナントロプス･ペキネンシス(北京原人)と共存していたとされる。ハイエナ，マカイロダス(剣歯虎の仲間)，シナサイ，三門ウマ，トロゴンテリウム(ビーバー)，楊氏トラ，ナキウサギ，オオツノジカ，ナウマンゾウなどが含まれ，更新世中期の中国北部の哺乳類相を代表する。更新世前期から中期初頭の泥河湾(ニーホーワン)動物群とくらべ，旧北区の要素が強く，冷温帯の森林ないし草原の生活者で，より寒冷，乾燥の環境のものとされる次の黄土動物群に移行する。
