A name indicating the lineage of gagaku experts (called musicians, musicians, musicians, etc.) belonging to the Imperial Court. Around the mid-Heian period, an organization of Jige officials who were engaged in ceremonial music at the Imperial Court, called Gakuso, was formed and passed down hereditarily. Later, in the late 16th century, to make up for the dispersal of musicians from the old Imperial Court due to the Onin War and other events, musicians from the Nanto side of Kofuku-ji Temple and the Tennoji side of Shitenno-ji Temple were added to form an orchestra called Sanpo Gakuso, which performed at Imperial Court events. The Kyoto side refers to the members of the Sanpo Gakuso who were from the old Imperial Court faction, and are also called the Kyoto side, Beijing side, or Ouchi Gakuso.
