A samurai family since the Kamakura period. According to a family tree, they descended from Imperial Prince Sukehito, the third son of Emperor Gosanjo, and called themselves the Gosanjo Genji. They were vassals of the Kamakura shogunate, with their main family home in Tashirogo, Kanosho, Izu Province (present-day Shuzenji Town, Tagata County, Shizuoka Prefecture), but in 1224 (Gennin 1), Tashiro Joshin (Nobutsuna) was bestowed the position of land steward of Otorigo, Izumi Province (present-day Otori, Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture) for his distinguished service in the Jokyu War. After Nobutsuna, the main family home of Tashirogo was passed down from Yoshitsuna, Kagetsuna, and Sanetsuna, and Otorigo was passed down from Kiyotsuna, Michitsuna, Ietsuna, Mototsuna, and Akitsuna. Otorigo was where the regent's daiban-tonari were located, and in the mid-13th century it became a manor under the Muromachi Inryo. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
