Ten Yan

A prefecture-level city in northwestern Hubei Province, central China. It is located at the northern foot of the Wudang Mountains. It governs three city districts, including Yunyang, and four counties, and acts as the administrative agent for Danjiangkou City (as of 2016). It has a population of 3.47 million (2014). It was incorporated as a city in 1969. It is an industrial city along the Xiang-Yu Line. The state-run No. 2 Automobile Manufacturing Plant (now Dongfeng Motor) began operations in 1975, and although the headquarters was relocated to Wuhan in 2003, the city is currently one of China's largest passenger car production bases. The Huanglongtan Dam to the west of the city is home to a hydroelectric power station with a capacity of 150,000 kilowatts.
