The criminal's buttocks are struck with a wooden stick thinner than that used for caning (without the joints, 3' 5" long, with a diameter of 3/4 of the large head and 1/2 of the small head at the base). Depending on the severity of the crime, there are grades ranging from 10 to 50 strokes.
