A city in the west of Aichi Prefecture, between Nagoya and Seto. In 1970, Asahi-cho, Higashi-Kasugai-gun, was renamed and incorporated as a city. It belongs to the Seto ceramics region, and is a prolific producer of Western-style tableware and ceramics for electrical use. In recent years, the electrical equipment industry has developed in the area. The Meitetsu Seto Line runs through the city, and it has become a residential area, with the cultivated land area decreasing significantly. 21.03 km2 . Population: 81,140 (2010). 愛知県西部，名古屋市と瀬戸市の間にある市。1970年東春日井郡旭町が改称，市制。瀬戸窯業地域に属し，洋食器，電気用陶磁器などを多産するほか，近年は電気機器工業が発展している。名鉄瀬戸線が通じ，住宅地化が著しく，耕地面積が大幅に減少している。21.03km2。８万1140人（2010）。
