A city in the west of Aichi Prefecture, between Nagoya and Seto. In 1970, Asahi-cho, Higashi-Kasugai-gun, was renamed and incorporated as a city. It belongs to the Seto ceramics region, and is a prolific producer of Western-style tableware and ceramics for electrical use. In recent years, the electrical equipment industry has developed in the area. The Meitetsu Seto Line runs through the city, and it has become a residential area, with the cultivated land area decreasing significantly. 21.03 km2 . Population: 81,140 (2010).
